Fabled Ice Cream Is (Almost) Here

This project has been over a year in the making.

What started with curiosity and a passion for ice cream turned into something much bigger. Over the past year I’ve found myself deep in recipe testing, learning the science and safety of ice cream, and sourcing ingredients.

I’ve attended Ice Cream School in Idaho. And taken an Artisanal Ice Cream class at Cornell University.

I’ve loved making batch after batch of ice cream for anyone willing to grab a spoon and give some feedback. This year has been a lot of trial and error. A lot of notes. A lot of small adjustments that made a big difference. And lots of dishes!

Now, I’m getting close to sharing it.

The plan is simple: We’ll release two new flavors each month, with weekly drops. You’ll reserve your pint on hotplate.com/fabledicecream and pick up your order at Old Town Books.

Every pint is clean label, small batch, locally made, and super premium. And each one is inspired by books and storytelling. That part felt important from the start. I wanted these flavors to feel like extensions of the same world we’ve built with Old Town Books. Playful, a little nostalgic, and rooted in storytelling.

Here’s a sneak peek of one of our flavors, Wuthering Bites. It’s a brown butter base with chunks of Heath(cliff) Bar! So, so, so good. And hopefully less controversial than the recent film adaptation…

I’ll be honest. This moment feels exciting and humbling, but also a little nerve-wracking.

We need to sell about 400 pints a month to break even. I don’t know yet if we’ll sell out each week. That’s the part you don’t really get to test ahead of time. You just have to put it out there and see what happens.

But I do know this. I believe in what we’re making. I believe in the quality, in the flavors, and in the idea that something as simple as ice cream can carry a story with it.
