Find Waldo Local Returns to Old Town This July

One of our favorite summer traditions is back!

Old Town Books is delighted to once again host Find Waldo Local, a community-wide scavenger hunt that encourages families to explore Old Town Alexandria while supporting local businesses. Organized annually through the American Booksellers Association, the event brings the beloved striped traveler to independent bookstores and small businesses across the country each summer.

Throughout the month of July, Waldo will be hiding in participating businesses all around Old Town. Your mission? Find him!

Getting started is easy. Beginning July 1, stop by Old Town Books Junior to pick up your official Waldo passport and find Waldo hidden in the store. Then set off on your adventure through Old Town, visiting participating businesses and collecting stamps each time you spot Waldo.

The more locations you visit, the more chances you'll have to celebrate with fellow Waldo hunters at the end of the month.

How to Participate

  1. Pick up a Waldo passport at Old Town Books Junior beginning July 1.

  2. Find Waldo hidden in the store to get started.

  3. Visit participating businesses throughout Old Town Alexandria.

  4. Collect a stamp each time you find Waldo.

  5. Return your completed passport to Old Town Books.

Join Us for the Celebration

We'll wrap up the month with a Where's Waldo Celebration at Old Town Books on Thursday, July 31, featuring raffle prizes generously donated by participating businesses. Whether you found every Waldo or just a few, we'd love to celebrate with you.
