If you’ve popped by the bookstore lately, you may have noticed that we’re looking extra festive. We’ve decked our halls (well, shelves in our case), we’re feeling quite jolly and we have lots of holiday fun planned. Next week, you won’t want to miss some seasonal fun happening at the bookstore!

Plaid Friday

Kick off your holiday shopping at your favorite indie bookstore!

Visit us on Friday, November 28, and shop special deals! We will open early at 7 AM with special early bird discounts each hour before 10 AM. Plus all day you can shop discounted Old Town Books merch and spin our prize wheel with every purchase including a book.

Our day of discounts includes:

  • 7 AM - 8 AM 30% off

  • 8 AM - 9 AM 20% off

  • 9 AM - 10 AM 10% off

  • 10 AM - 7 PM double points

  • All Day 50% off wearable OTB merch & spin the prize wheel when you make a purchase that includes a book

Small Business Saturday

Come out and support your favorite small local businesses on Small Business Saturday (November 29! 

We have a day full of holiday fun and treats planned for everyone! 

Join us under the tree at 9:30 AM for a special author storytime with award-winning author Laurel Snyder shares her new picture book, THE BOOK OF CANDLES, a story of Hanukkah told through eight unforgettable poems. RSVP for free on Eventbrite here!

From 10 am to 5 pm, buy a book and get a treat! Fabled Ice Cream will be giving out hot cocoa floats for every book purchase, while supplies last. Nicole's Kitchen will also be visiting us with some delicious baked treats for sale! 

Every $50 purchase also gets a free copy of either ON TYRANNY or HOW BOOKS CAN SAVE DEMOCRACY with every purchase of $50 or more (while supplies last).

And all day long, we’ll be celebrating Richard Scarry in Old Town Books Junior! Come pose for pictures inside our giant Huckle Cat & Lowly Worm frame and take home some free stickers and buttons (while supplies last).

But you know what else is super special about Small Business Saturday? SANTA!

Santa Storytime

We'll also have a special guest stopping by: Santa Claus will be signing books and reading stories for all from 11 am - 1 pm. This is a free event and no RSVP is needed. Storytime will start on the hour at 11 am and noon, with time for pictures and book signings to follow.

Cider Monday

Forget Cyber Monday - join us for Cider Monday! Visit the bookstore on Monday, December 1 and warm yourself with hot cider while shopping with us. Not local? Shop online and get free shipping all day!

Giving Tuesday

Our Holiday Book Drive may be ending on November 30, but you can still help us provide books to local children in Alexandria through our Book Love program. On Giving Tuesday, we’ll match all Book Love donations made. Click here to make your donation online!
